President Kibaki is expected to travel to Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania Sunday to attend the ninth Africa Investment Forum and the ninth Extraordinary Summit of the East African Community Heads of State.
On Monday, President Kibaki will attend the 9th Africa Investment Forum hosted jointly by the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania, the Commonwealth Business Council and the East African Community (EAC).
The forum will involve high level interactive dialogue on investment with EAC Heads of State and key private sector players from across Africa and the Commonwealth.
The forum’s theme 'Accelerating Investment in East Africa and Increasing Access to a Market of a Billion People' is expected to provide a platform to bring investors and projects together to showcase new opportunities, enhance African trade and investment and to build new business partnerships.
Among the issues that will be discussed during the forum include ways of promoting a conducive business environment in the region.
The forum will also focus on public-private sector partnership in key areas of infrastructure development including energy, transport, communications and housing. It will also exploit existing opportunities for East African businesses in the Commonwealth among other issues.
On Tuesday, the President will attend the 9th Extraordinary Summit of the East African Community Heads of State.
During the summit, regional leaders will discuss the way forward on political integration, the proposed EAC Single Customs Union Territory, the implementation of the EAC Food Security Action Plan (2010-2015) and the EAC Climate Change Policy.
The plane carrying President Kibaki and his entourage is expected to depart Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) shortly before 3.00 p.m.
