Johannesburg - A 27-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly raping a teenager in Mmabatho, North West police said on Tuesday.
Warrant officer Sam Tselanyane said the man apparently offered a 14-year-old girl and her friend a lift in his car, after he found then waiting at a bus stop at around 23:35pm on Sunday.
He then drove them to his home in Mmabatho Unit 15. Once they arrived, he got out the car and dragged the 14-year-old girl inside the house and into his bedroom, where he raped her.
The girl's friend was apparently left in the car during the rape but police are not sure what subsequently happened to her.
The rape victim escaped when the man allowed her to collect her cellphone in the car.
She reported the incident to the police and the man was subsequently arrested.
He is expected to appear in the Mmabatho Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.
