First Lady Michelle Obama invited the boyband to Monday's annual Easter Egg Roll when she met the gang at the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards on Saturday.
But the five-piece - comprised of Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne, Niall Horan and Zayn Malik - have not been able to free up their schedule
Made an impression: Harry called Michelle Obama- who was seen dancing in the crowd during their song 'a very attractive older woman'
A spokesman for the group, which was formed on the UK version of the X Factor in 2010, told Politico.com they had to decline 'due to prior commitments' and will be in Australia.
It was previously reported how Mrs Obama had asked the group to come to the White House after being bowled over by their performance over the weekend at the Los Angeles event.A source told the Sun: 'She invited them to the White House for their annual Easter egg hunt on Easter Monday. It was such an honour.'
No can do: One Direction's Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne, Niall Horan and Zayn Malik have declined an invite to the White House due to a prior commitment, seen here at Saturday's Kid's Choice Awards in LA
Ever the charmer, Harry amused the First Lady by asking how they order pizza from the White House.
Michelle replied that they make their own.
Harry went so far as to call Michelle a 'very attractive older woman.'
Michelle in turn was obviously impressed with the British boys, and her daughters Malia, 13, and Sasha, ten, were every bit as excited as their mother, bouncing away alongside her.
Pretty big-named fans: Katy Perry joined Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez in the audience as they watched One Direction perform
Styles – who has dated 32-year-old Xtra Factor host Caroline Flack, said he had ‘too much respect for Barack’ to comment on the First Ladies’ stunning appearance, while Payne happily rated her an 11 out of 10.
He said: ‘She’s a very classy woman, very elegant.’
Sadly due to commitments in Australia, One Direction were unable to accept Michelle's invitation

There's no doubt however that the invitation was the highest form of welcome to America that the group could have wished for after their album Up All Night topped the US Billboard charts.
Belting out their hit single You Don’t Know You’re Beautiful, it was clear to see the British boy band are dearly loved by young ladies in the States as they eagerly reached out to touch the teenage heartthrobs during their Kid's Choice performance.
One of the best dressed women of the night,it was clear that the First Lady was having a whale of the time listening to the British stars.
The boys received prime spots at the exciting ceremony which was celebrating its 25th year, and the singers told the Mail Online they were really honoured to be sitting in the front row amongst stars such as Halle Berry and Heidi Klum.
And they were clearly right at home mingling with music superstars such as Justin Bieber and Katy Perry.
But it seemed as if stars who have been in the industry much longer than One Direction were more thrilled to be in their presence.
Kelly Osbourne admitted she was proud that her countrymen were blowing up in America.
'They are so amazing and they are so lovely and it makes me so happy – it’s like the Brits taking over I love it.'
