The 38th World Federation of Hemophilia (WFH) world congress and General Assembly was held on July 8 - 14 2012 at New York Hotel & Conference Centre in Paris this month of July.

The Hemophilia Society of Tanzania (HST) was represented by its president Mr. Richard Minja. WFH which represents over 120 countries and is accredited to World Health Organisation (WHO). WFH brought together patients and heath care professionals.

The meetings coincided with the 50s anniversary of the federation. The congress was attended by about 86 National Member Organizations (NMO). The meetings followed after a global NMO training on advocacy and capacity building for NMOs. The congress theme was “Closing the Gap” which is intended to achieve improved care and treatment for people with inherited bleeding disorders in the world.

During the General Assembly Mr. Alain Weill of France was elected as new WFH. Hemophilia community Tanzania like other developing countries is underserved in terms of care and treatment. The WFH mission is “Treatment for ALL”
