Congolese president Joseph Kabila on Tuesday rushed to Kampala, the Ugandan capital, to seek help from President Museveni after the M23 rebels captured Goma, the provincial capital of North Kivu.
President Kabila arrived in the country at 2pm.
Rwanda President, Paul Kagame, is also expected to attend talks intended to help salvage the worsening situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Mr Kagame was yet to arrive in the country by press time, although he is expected on Tuesday evening.
The Congolese forces fled their bases in Goma, leaving strong weaponry behind. There were also reports of sporadic uprisings in the Katanga region.
