Bukomansimbi
Four children died on Saturday night when fire gutted a house they were sleeping in Bukomansimbi town.
The children have been identified as Vincent Ssegawa,4, Catherine Nakawuki,5, Martin Ssali, 7, and Shivan Namutebi,6. Three of the children died in the house while Namutebi died at 9:30am at Villa-Maria Hospital where she was taken.
The fire broke out at around 11pm when the children were alone in the house. Their mother, Ms Annet Ndagire and father Joseph Kamulegeya had gone to operate their bar 100 metres from their home.

Residents said by the time they came to rescue the children, the fire had already engulfed the whole house. Three of the children managed to escape from the fire with no injuries.

Mr Kamulegeya said it seems the children left the candle burning when they went to bed. He said he was called after the fire broke out but he could not rescue the children.
The officer in-charge of Bukomansombi Police Station, Mr Aaron Twesigye, said they tried to use water, with the help of residents, to stop the fire but they could not because the whole house was ablaze. He said they called the Fire Brigade but it was very far in Masaka District.
