The Court of Appeal in Kampala will tomorrow at 11am deliver its ruling on whether to release the convicted former NSSF managing director, David Chandi Jamwa on bail or not pending the hearing of his appeal against his 12 year jail term conviction.
The application for his release on bail was heard today morning by a single court of Appeal Justice, Augustine Nshimye who reserved the ruling for tomorrow.
The Anti-Corruption Court in March this year found Mr Jamwa guilty of causing a financial loss of Shs 3billion to the Fund and sentenced him to a 12-year jail term. However court acquitted him of the other charge of abuse of office.
Mr Jamwa’s Lawyer David Mpanga in his submission today, cited among others the uncertainty of when his client’s appeal against his conviction will be heard and yet he has spent a long time in jail.
