Uganda Cranes made a firm stride to reaching the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations with a commanding 2-0 victory over Guinea Bissau at Mandela National Stadium yesterday.
Goals in either half from Godfrey Walusimbi (36th minute) and Geoffrey Massa (57th minute) gave Bobby Williamson’s side a deserved victory that keeps Cranes top of Group J.
Uganda bossed the game from the onset and, save for an outstanding second half save from goalkeeper Denis Onyango, were barely troubled.
The only downside of the match was David Obua’s petulance after being substituted early in the second half. The Hearts midfielder stripped off his shirt before the Cranes bench and trudged off to the dressing room crestfallen amidst boos from fans.
Uganda will now closely monitor the group’s other game between Angola and Kenya, which will be played today.
