On Thursday morning, King Albert underwent a small operation on the nose. The operation was meant to treat a basocellular epithelioma, an official announcement by the Royal Palace said. The statement also said that the intervention was carried out without any problem.
The operation took place in the "Cliniques Universitaires Saint-Luc" in Brussels. Basal cell epithelioma develops from the basal cell layer of the skin and is relatively benign.
However, the epithelioma that had developed at the side of the king's nose, prevented our monarch from breathing smoothly through his nose. As the small operation was successful, King Albert II (77) should be able to return home tomorrow.
