Former Penn State football coach Jerry Sandusky was arrested on new sexual abuse charges Wednesday following the grand jury testimony of two additional people who alleged abuse.

"As in many of the other cases identified to date, the contact with Sandusky allegedly fit a pattern of grooming victims," Pennsylvania Attorney General Linda Kelly said in a statement.

Sandusky would gain the boys’ friendship with innocent outings, but later the behavior "escalated to sexual assaults,” Kelly said.

Last month, Sandusky was charged with 40 counts of sexual abuse against eight boys he met through his charity, The Second Mile, founded in 1977. Sandusky allegedly abused the boys and the additional two alleged victims over a total period of 15 years.

One of the new accusers told the grand jury Wednesday that after meeting Sandusky at the age of 10, Sandusky performed oral sex on the victim while in Sandusky’s basement after wrestling with the boy. The other accuser alleged that he met Sandusky at age 11 or 12 and was raped and sexually assaulted by Sandusky over a period of several years.

Sandusky spoke out last month in a televised interview in an attempt to defend himself against the allegations that have incited the anger and ire of the nation.

“I am innocent of those charges,” Sandusky said speaking to Bob Costas on NBC News. “I have horsed around with kids. I have showered after workouts. I have hugged them, and I have touched their legs without intent of sexual contact.”
