President Mwai Kibaki on Wednesday said the government will provide adequate security during the elections.
Kibaki told the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) officials and clergymen at his Harambee House office that free and fair elections will be conducted.
During the meeting, Justice Minister Eugene Wamalwa and IEBC Chairman Ahmed Issack Hassan said mechanisms dealing with electoral disputes have been put in place.
Mr Hassan pledged with faith based organisations to provide necessary assistance for IEBC to deliver free, fair and credible elections next year.
