Senior officers within the prisons department have been reshuffled.
Langata Women’s Prison boss Grace Onyango has been appointed the deputy county commander. Ms Onyango will deputise the Nairobi county commandant Wanini Kireri.
The officer in charge of the Industrial Area Prison Pauline Wanja is the new Langata boss. She has been replaced by Mr James Too.
The officer in charge Shimo La Tewa, where two inmates escaped on Sunday, was however not moved. The reshuffle was termed as normal operation and not a reaction.
