President Uhuru Kenyatta has arrived at the African Union for the Special Heads State Summit to decide the relationship between the continent and the International Criminal Court.
Among other Heads of State who had arrived were Presidents Yoweri Museveni (Uganda), Paul Kagame (Rwanda), Goodluck Jonathan (Nigerria), Robert Mugabe (Zimbabwe) Alassene Ouatara (Ivory Coast), Omar El Bashir (Sudan) and Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn (Ethiopia).
President Kenyatta left the country immediately after the Deputy President William Ruto arrived from the Netherlands.
Deputy President William Ruto arrived back in the country at about 6am Saturday from The Hague Netherlands after taking a weekend off from trial at International Criminal Court (ICC).
African leaders are Saturday expected to endorse a resolution to withdraw en masse from the International Criminal Court in protest at the trial of President Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto.
The theme of the Summit is “Africa’s Relationship with the International Criminal Court (ICC)”
The President is accompanied by the First Lady Margaret Kenyatta and Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Cabinet Secretary Amb. Amina Mohamed.
Mr Ruto then proceeded to Tranz Nzoia County, where he is scheduled to close an IDP camp in Saboti later in the day.
