Suspended Kampala Capital City Authority Director of Physical Planning, Mr George Agaba has been remanded to Luzira Prison over murder, two days after he was re-arrested and detained at Jinja Road Police.
Mr Agaba was remanded eight days after his bodyguard Santos Makmot was charged with similar case. Mr Agaba and his remanded bodyguard Santos Makmot were arrested ten days ago over a shooting incident in Port Bell, Luzira, after KCCA was trying to raze illegal structures from a road reserve, an operation that turned bloody leaving one person dead and three others injured following a confrontation.
Mr Agaba appeared before Nakawa Magistrates Court but he was not allowed to plead to the charge. The presiding magistrate informed Agaba that the court did not have the powers to hear his plea.
“You are not under duty to plead to this charge. You are hereby remanded to prison,” held Magistrate Gladys Kamasanyu before remanding him to February 8 for mention of the case.

The state alleges that on January 22, at Portbell, Luzira Mr Agaba and Mr Makmot shot to death one Onyango and seriously injured three others.
According to a video recording of the incident, Mr Agaba walked to his official vehicle, only to return with a rifle in his hands. He initially attempted to shot into the crowd but the rifle was jammed. He later gave it to Mr Makmot, who indiscriminately shot at the crowd.
