Dr Tulia Ackson Mwansasu (CCM) has been voted as the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly. The scholar who turned politician scoring 250 votes (71.2%) and defeated her rival from CUF Ms Magdalena Sakaya who scored 101 votes equals to 28.8 per cent.
Dr Ackson, a former Deputy Attorney General, pledged collective leadership in conjunction with professional application to fulfill her new responsibilities for the country's integrity.
The Speaker of the House, Mr Job Ndugai welcomed her appointment and pledged cooperation with the newly selected Deputy for professional execution of their duties.
Ms Sakaya conceded defeat and congratulated Dr Tulia for the victory.
